For years it has been quite easy to fake a tweet, a news story, or even what someone has said. The tools to pull such chicanery have been easily available for a decade and a half. But what has changed? Normalfag Zoomers, they grew up on the modern internet. An internet that had been tamed from it's golden age wild west days. Prior to the invention and popularization of the smartphone the internet was an outsider hobby. Those who didn't fit in with society at the time found it easy to fit in with the other denizens of the Internet and they would quickly learn how some would try pull a fast on them by faking an article or pretending to be someone else on a forum, and very quickly us outsiders would learn to be able to differentiate from what was real and what was fake.
And then the normalfags invaded, Normalfags are literal NPCs. You tell them something with authority and will almost always believe it. Internet mischief makers have found their new target and they have been playing them for over a decade. A lot of normalfags don't check the source of information ever, They can't even check if a tweet is real but just searching it up, they are fucking lazy. Especially if the "information" help confirm their worldviews.
It is so unbelievably easy to trick Normies all you have to do is use inspect element on a tweet of a popular figure and sell them a story they already believe in and you'll fool 90% of them. Go even further and make your own website to act as a fake source and the so called Normalfags that "check sources" will be fooled 99% of the time. because they don't actually check the sources if one is listed there.
It's not never been that the truth has been too difficult to find, it's that normalfags are too lazy and ignorant to find it themselves.
