Underdogs are bs tbh, they're always some chads/chad-lites who only win at the end because his friends decided to help him. A real underdog has no friends, he is hated, he is facing an uphill battle against the normshits. But no, it's always some less popular chad fighting a more popular chad, can't have any inkwells on screen.

That reminds me of DBZ. Yamcha, the ultimate underdog there, is a superpowerful womanizer Chad who's the third strongest human on the planet, it's just that his friends are even much stronger.

Yes, even a good manga like berserk doesn't escape that.

Even the joker, the supposed incel kino casted a decent looking white guy as the outcast. JFL we need better representation tbh

Arthur is a failed normie, he is far from an incel
If Arthur was some 5'4 balding recessed jawline oldcel, maybe we'd have a more realistic version.

Because most people like the feelings associated with being a rebel without having to leave their actual comfort zone. That's why the underdog in those movie is most often an attractive, able-bodied, idealized hero who is against something that the average man despises anyways (for example: corrupt corporatists, mad technocrats that would do anything in the name of progress, cartoonized rip-offs of real political/historical figures the public hates).

The enormous asset associated with such a style of storywriting: The audience can get the emotional relief (catharsis) associated with seeing a powerful enemy fall against a single man despite all odds but it doesn't have to leave the comfort zone of what's socially acceptable (no emotional distress and no nagging questions that could ruin/diminish the fun). The audience feels all the benefits associated with being an underdog but it doesn't get to feel the enormous emotional costs associated with rebelling against an established social order because that would reduce fun factor. That's a safe way of filmmaking.
