I just heard recently that the reason the ancient Israelites selected King Saul to be their first king was because he was like 10in taller than everyone else. That’s it. He was one of the tallest dudes around. I’ve heard the story many times before, but this is the first time I noticed that part.

Regardless of whether or not this story actually happened, that’s heightism. In the Bible. A story that is literally thousands of years old. Being born tall is all it took to become a king.

I assume that back in the day, before social media, hyper advanced fakeup and all that jazz, the prosaic aspect of life was much more pronounced and people saw each other as average more often. So, in works of fiction they ressorted to extremes like the hero being beautiful and the meannie being ugly, cause it didn't hurt nobody. So i think what you point out is actually an implicit way of virtue signaling, but a convenient way to do so cause foids don't mind their beautiful bad guy fantasies. I mean nowadays it would be just too obvious to make the vilain an ugly manlet every single time. Fascinating how standards of living, a greater flux of information and the late stage "war of all against all" capitalism can influence something like movie representations.
