Plus he is just applying the tactics he uses in business to his duty as the president, he always starts with offering someone an unreasonable deal so when he talks them down to something slightly less unreasonable they will be more likely to accept it, it's just psychological manipulation, he wants to show he means business so he can get more of what he wants out of them than he would have otherwise, I'm sure he doesn't want to cause a massive recession and be seen as an incompetent idiot for the rest of history.

Trump will not be able to install a merit based immigration system or have mass deportations. You need 60 votes in the senate to do this. The Jews who own the GOP and Trump won't allow a merit based immigration system OR mass deportation because they use cheap shit skin labor to reap huge profits on their companies. All we will get is some remain in Mexico policy.
We will not get free healthcare like other developed nations because the Jews who own the insurance companies won't allow it. And forget about free pre K, college, or free student lunches. The Jews who own these colleges/pre schools won't want this because of $$$.

I think that back then inflation was not really a thing. We had normal inflation levels at the time.
Just as an update, the tariffs got postponed by 30 days because of minor concessions from Mexico and Canada. Mexico says they'll patrol the border more and Canada is getting a fentanyl czar. Neither will change much of anything, but it allows trump to claim a victory.
The tariffs will hopefully be scrapped completely. Those tariffs would have caused grocery prices to skyrocket, especially since a large amount of our vegetables, fruits, nuts and legumes are imported from Mexico.
