I always thought this whole "android users are incels" thing was a really weird meme. Android has like half the market share in the US and worldwide it's the vast majority. Even among my zoomer coworkers, like half of them use android phones, usually Samsung.

That said it depends on demographics and location. In america, among the upper middle class and women, iphones are more popular. But androids are more popular among the lower to middle class, and men.

The only people who shit on android users are upper middle class white women that spend all day on twitter, who also ironically call themselves "socialists" of some sort.

Also for what it's worth, in my experience, iphone users seem more likely to be autistic.

I only buy a new phone when my old one no longer holds a charge, and that usually takes 3 or 4 years. Android devices can be bought for about 1/4 the price of comparable apple devices just because crapple overcharges for the same technology and markets it as a luxury brand. Buying apple is peak consumerism.

They all technically existed to some extent, friendster and myspace technically existed just before i graduated, texting was a thing, but most people still had flip phones that were really difficult to text on, and I think some of the blackberry and motorola phones that came out my senior year could be considered very early iteration (proto)smartphones.
