Happiness is always fleeting. Theres is no going around that. You could be doing (and being) everything right in your life, it would still be transitory and not a maximizable thing to do.

People try everything to maintain it, but it falls through their hands, like water.

Think of it like a gift from the gods. It just happens in the right place st the right time for whatever reason.

Pleasure, on the other hand, is something much more sustainable and easy to obtain, but it doesnt hold a candle to happiness. Its just, basically, a momentary escapist route from pain and boredom.

To put it in dumb terms.

David Goggins VS Nikocado Avocado.

Both are destroying their bodies for something that never comes fully, which is happiness, content and satisfaction.

Let me explain. One sells out the present for a better future (which never comes, but he gets closer to it everytime) >goggins< and the other does the opposite, sell the future for a better present (which gets more uncomfortable everytime) >nikocado<.

One would say david goggins is the better option and he wouldnt be exactly wrong, but far from entirely right either.

What goggins is doing is simply (cant believe i have to explain this, but here we go) is trading one addiction for another, creating another cycle of destruction and misery, just the other way around.

But, in this hustle/work hard/grindset BS culture we live in, one toxic mentality is praised to no end while the other is vilified into oblivion.

delayed gratification only works as a strategy, for instance in a board game where you save up resources for later instead of using them

it's not a moral concept, even though redpill zoomers treat it as one

and it doesn't really apply to happiness
