1. They need to have enough high IQ to understand those academic research papers.

2. Then they need to have strong academic background on those topics to refute all those research papers (i.e. challenging the academicians who wrote the papers, some of them are full professors of psychology/sociology/plastic-surgeons in universities).

3. It's way easier to report on "women should be burned alive" thread than "Evolutionary psychology and human mate selection strategy"

4. Whatever you write, you will get paid the same.
