I am often ridiculed and insulted for being unemployed, but I want to work, but there's no support programs for autistic people where I live so often I only work 1-2 jobs per year that last 3-6 months. I won't go into too much detail, but I worked hard, have a good work ethic and always showed up early, but lost jobs and when I ask what the problem was, they always say "You aren't a good fit for our team" or some ambiguous reasoning like that.
80% of autistic males are unemployed / struggle to keep work, and I have another condition where people who have it are around 30% more likely to be unemployed than the average person. I am DISABLED and yet I STILL WANT TO WORK, AND WORK HARD. Most people with my conditions would live on disability forever and do nothing all day.
BUT PEOPLE KEEP POSTING EXCEPTIONS AS IF THAT IS THE RULE. I AM AWARE THERE ARE EXCEPTIONS, BUT THEY ARE EXCEPTIONS FOR A REASON. NOT EVERYONE IS THE EXCEPTION IN LIFE. I DON'T SPEND WELFARE MONEY ON DRUGS AND ALCOHOL. STOP BLAMING ME FOR THE ECONOMY NOT BEING GREAT.
But because I am not blind, deaf and in a wheelchair, people who have had no life problems besides their family dog dying 10 years ago think they know me better than I know myself.
