In the past a girl would be called a slut if she had casual sex with a guy and her dating options were limited to her social circle. Nowadays women can fuck anyone they want without any consequence and the average girl can literally choose from 1000s of men.

Hypergamy has always been present. Social media and wymyn's financial independence has lead to the extreme levels of hypergamy we see today.

In the past a womyn would still fuck Chad, she just wouldn't drop her husband because he was essential for her survival.

but the main reason is nature, if women were free in every sense, they would go for the top genetics in males, but because they can't (money, family religion or not good looking enough) they will settle for the next best thing.
