Money means resources which can be used to raise offspring. A male with resources indicates genetic superiority (in nature). Females choose these mates (eg. are attracted to them because they can provide for kids, the ultimate biological impetus). Also in nature, looks are important because they are ancillary signals for resource capable males.

So, theoretically, in my mind, attraction to males with wealth is "real" attraction. In our society, I imagine this would be things of high wealth (eg. Mansion, multiple luxury cars, etc.) and not middle class.

The betabux model is a good way to get a woman in the past. In my view, if you wanted her to look at you like she would at Chad you would have to be top 10% wealthy and not just rent a place or own an average home. You'd have to be very much above average wealth.

I agree. And it was even better in other cultures. A lot of the men in my family married women outside of their league through betabux.

Perhaps some people see looks as more valid because it's easier to maintain the illusion of being loved, and it's much harder to lose your looks compared to money and status. At the end of the day it's still a transaction IMO. The problem is, most women don't seem worth the investment anymore, especially here. Outsourcing ftw I guess
