Whether dark triad men cared about their offspring wasn't relevant, because raising children was primarily the task of the mother. Merely, the purpose of the man was to provide food and to protect, and for these things, being strong / high T / dark triad is helpful.

You should keep in mind just how different the times were.

First and foremost, finding a new one (I presume you mean a new woman) wasn't easy because there was a scarcity of women. Cities weren't really a thing, nor was Tinder obviously.

Also, abandoning your woman would basically just mean that she'd risk starving. It is in our nature to always want offspring, and dark-triad men aren't exempt from that. As @Angry_runt says, dark triad does not mean nihilism.

Not to mention that back then, men also needed women. Men and women both had an added value. Men provided the food, but women were typically responsible e.g. for preparing it, and for making clothes etc.
