On one hand, I hate how uniform and generic all these pardox games are beginning to look, such that they are not only becoming indistinguishable from each other but also the entire strategy game apparatus as a whole. But also the "upgraded" EU5 UI looks like dogshit and a downgrade from EU4's and this devolution extends to the map as well, in my opinion.

But on the other hand, and notwithstanding that, I do like the implementation of crafting individual narratives like within Crusader Kings insofar as your leaders and generals. Similarly the reworked government-trade-market system with the addition of individual pops and migration like in the Victoria series is a much needed upgrade that adds vertically. It seems to me that it's combining the best aspects of these aforementioned games with the best game that paradox has created (EU4). So I don't know.

I used to play 4 a significant amount, yet I was never good at it. Most of the time I tried playing Scotland or ironman and was crushed by England except a few exception gamed where I beat England but then got crushed by Spain + something coalition or some BS

It is what it is. You probably weren't aggro enough.

Scotland is a shit beginner nation

I am fairly excited about this game. While CK3 and V3 looked like downgrades to it's predecessors, EUV actually look like improvement, and a big one at that. It's using mechanics from CK3, EU4, V3 and Imperator and I feel like they blend them together well. I think it could be actually a good paradox game even on release, not to mention after a few dlcs. The population mechanic, intertwined with levies and economy, looks absolutely fantastic and I cannot wait to commit to ethnic cleansing or two. Creating my own markets looks good too. Diplomacy looks good too and with huge potential. I've yet to see how colonization works, but if it will work in some way with supply lines it might actually be an interesting mechanic, not so boring like in EU4 where it was just stacking colonial range > exterminating natives > stacking settlers increase. What I am interested in is how navy works. And if this game will have it's life cycle as long as EU4 I think I have a lot to be excited for. All in all, I cannot wait for this game. Definitely hyped for this.

It seems fine but I'll hold my veredict until normal people have access to the game and not the cherrypicked yes-men YouTubers Paradox singled out.
I seriously hope the UI is changed

I was thinking about that, since you play as the country and not as an individual it could be nice or fun seeing generals, admirals, peasants etc somehow becoming King, that could be super fun

Gonna stick to eu4 probably too used to it

It will only take 3 expansions for it to be somewhat playable and a decade for it to match eu4 in content. Just like vic3 and ck3

just another half broken paradox game

They have mastered the art of getting a 2 dimensional map to run at 1 fps

Last game I played from paradox was CK3 and while it was moderately good, it had the same flaw - nothing to do in the game apart from painting the map. No matter how much of decorative bullshit they add, it's the same game over and over. You just bloat out and eat neighbors. And your success is determined by how many areas you painted your color by the end of the game.

is victoria 3 playable now though?
