We're not used to it, most people don't have air con and our houses are made of brick, designed to retain as much heat as possible. I do see immigrants walking around with jackets and hoodies on in this weather though.

Probably high humidity levels, same here in the Netherlands. The heat here is unbearable, and completely different from countries such as Greece, Morocco, Levantine region etc.
