Lots of insurance companies are bailing out of California because it's just too expensive to rebuild houses and usually they have to pay rent for the policyholders until the house is rebuilt.....which costs a fuck ton of money too. The insurance companies are not dumb, they do risk assessments every few months and know shit is gonna burn down. They want nothing to do with it.
My parents were paying $10,000 a year for fire insurance on their house and the rumor is that the company is gonna bail and leave California at the end of this year. So they had to switch
