Tbh you have one side saying it is metal and the other saying it's not, I have no clue. Slipknot and other nu-metal bands aren't on metal-archives either, but numetal is a broad term too, and slipknot supposedly stopped being numetal after Iowa.
I like me some death and black metal, sometimes thrash, but why isn't slipknot metal exactly? There are both sides arguing about whether it's metal or not. What genre would you say it is?
i would argue slipknot is more angry pop music for normies that just cant listen too anything heavy. just because there is distortet guitars and screaming ( which Corey does wrong btw ) does not mean is metal.
Angry pop music JFL, I could totally see that tbh. You may be right as it isn't on metal-archives either. I still like to turn it on sometimes though, even if some lyrics sound like an angsty teenager wrote them. Corey was damaging his vocal cords on Iowa (their 2nd album) and possibly their 1st album, but I don't know if it necessarily means wrong screaming, and he learned to scream in a non-damaging way since their 3rd album from what I remember. Unless you mean something else by wrong screaming.
by screaming wrong i mean damaging himself. lyrics is a bit too much teenage angst, throw some random words from the dictionary and it would be better.
my dislike of slipknot stems a bit from talking too norm fags who think they like metal but start crying if you put on gorevent or blasphemy or mortician. im just sperging out over this shit. im just sick of retards screaming fucking slayer will complaining that pantera is racist, both sucks.

i agree, but i feel like with slipknot it gives the illusion of sounding "metal" but the composition isnt even "metal" dont you think thats the issue many people dont get?
