We're too eager/desperate to throw around terms like "scientific study," when first of all these are just surveys. We don't rarely ever look into the deeper meaning of them or their choice of sample. Just the results. Like the average number of sexual partners. We'll use this to say "Look how much we're missing out on!" When first of all, surveys like this vary wildly. But second of all, are they true averages?

This article mentions a CDC survey about all the sexual partners people ages 25-44 have had. But that CDC survey only counts people who have actually had sex. Not factoring in virgins/incels into the average.

So that's not really accurate of what the average American is experiencing. If you're only counting sexhavers, what percentage of America is that, really? What if it's really small and the surveys aren't reflecting that? That would be like envying... I dunno... a billionaire. Yeah it would be nice to be a billionaire, but if the reality is that very few people can expect to be billionaires, I have to accept what's realistic.
