With changing demographics and the death of the baby Boomer's things might turn sour real soon. I thought that after obama got elected there will never be a Conservative president ever again then we voted for trump all. I'm saying with this example if successful is that society can change in a blink of an eye. We're also addicted to technology and convenience. We end up upsetting this convenience. Then things go down South real bad. Because people will not be able to adjust that fast in terms of their lifestyle. And for their work and careers to function. Soviet Union’s collapse was sudden and took people by surprise. World War 1 and World War 2 are other examples of extremely rapid societal change. The world is changing at an even faster pace today in all regards, so a collapse of several major countries is a solid possibility within our lifetime.

I don't think that society will collapse, in fact societal collapse porn has been mostly a thing on the political left (climate change exaggerationism), but we will likely see an economic collapse and massive deflation due to global population shrinkage. Most of us will probably never receive a pension.

Depends what you mean by collapse. If you mean post nuclear wasteland then probably not. If you mean urban shitholes like Chicago and London getting ten times worse over the next decade then no I don’t agree. That is coming and similar for other large centers. It’s all got way worse even in my own lifetime
I believe at least some smaller, poorer countries will be overwhelmed and descend into political chaos, but I generally agree its beyond us. I like to think my lifespan will end when things really get going.
