Vcelguy, the forum owner, claimed he was being stalked by a girl who rejected him 8 years prior, as well as prior friends who allegedly wanted to bully him. He claims she was trying to tell his real life friends that he owned **********, which made him upset. She also allegedly hacked his emails during this attempt, and supposedly used that to contact many people about Vcelguy.

Allegedly feeling pressure from being outed as the owner of **********, Vcelguy then decided to take ********** offline. It went offline on December 4th 2022.

Two people offered Vcelguy money for the ********** domain and/or forum. One offer was within the range of $200-400, the other was for $1000. Vcelguy rejected both offers, and insulted both people making the offer. He said he would only sell the domain for $200,000. At the time the forum went offline, it was the most unpopular standalone, self-identified incel website, with SimilarWeb estimating site traffic of 63k "visitor sessions" per month, 3 months prior to the shutdown.

During his shutdown notice, Vcelguy falsely claimed a purpose of the forum was to give users hope for the future. Despite likely taking the forum offline forever, Vcelguy decided to keep domains ********** and ********** as memorabilia, renewing both domains.

Hidden message

Vcelguy left a hidden message in the HTML source of his forum farewell page, which read simply, "You have brought this verdict on yourself before we ever had a chance".
