Most people are shallow and lack introspection this day and age. Now, women can be introspective and still be shallow in the dating scene, meaning they are deeper thinkers, but go after men who should be seen as low quality. Most women are into the whole "bad boy" archetype invented in the 50s. It is an inversion of the natural order, that being that a man aught to lead a women towards goodness.
Nice guys are the social evolutionary remnant of this old world view on the roles of men and women. Think of how often nice guys are shamed in comparrison to bad boys. Nice guys while imperfect are at the very least fairly normal people, in fact I'd wager that many users here were at one time nice guys.
People say men need to change, but women first need to unlearn to be victims to the forbidden fruit theory, (the more you shouldn't want something the more you want it) then men's behavior in the sexual marketplace will naturally adjust accordingly, it is really the only place women actually have power. In the olden days women would fall for an artistic, introspective deep thinker (many nice guys I believe fall into this category) as they were the most productive and morally good men around. Bad boys are the spiritual descendants of street urchins and rabel rousers who in a just society would be sent to work camps. Think of bad boys as chads and nice guys as virgins. I also think many of us instinctively think of chads as bad boys. The reason for this is that many modern women grew up with absent fathers and so have uncontrolled and unquelled feminine energy, and with them being in control of the dating market (where as in the past it was much more balanced) they seek men with traits that will feed into that afforementioned energy. This also ties into the disgusting degenerate almost rite of passage known as "teenage rebellion" which is when teens go fornicate, do drugs, disobey their parents, and shove off all conventional wisdom to act as mongoloids. Sadly with the prolonged adolescense we see amoungst young people now it is no surprise people (and women especially who are essentially between children and adults mentally) (see Schopenhauer's "On Women") are extending this phase of degeneracy into adult life and into their 20s. Most women only realizing they want a "nice guy" by the time they're used up, if they ever settle down at all. Of course bad boys are bad for settling down and when women want that they'll go for the nicer guy, but in the end he'll most likely get a used up woman who should have gone to church and obeyed her parents, rather than being a whore and doing drugs.
In short, nice guys are good, bad boys should be systematically genocided, and women are shallow degenerates.
