I had a theory that the main reason people get so mad when you find an age between 18 - 25 attractive is usually because they spent their youth partying, getting drunk, and getting into dumb relationships. So when they realize that they finally wasted their time and they're practically doomed to live a life of mediocrity, they look for anything to blame beside themself.

They tell themselves that their brain wasn't fully developed, or that it was a part of their youthful follies. This, is of course, false, but they need to deny it in order to cope. So that's why they say that anything between 18 - 25 is still too young. They're just coping over the fact that they're failures.
