The worst part about being schizophrenic………

The worst part about being schizophrenic is the treatment I get from others.

And I’m not just talking about foids.
Even men don’t want anything to do with me.

As soon as I tell someone that I am on disability for mental illness……..it is game over.

From then on, I get treated like a pariah.
Cast deep into social exile.

They wonder why schizophrenics tend to just get crazier and crazier.

It’s because we have no one but ourselves.

No counterbalance to our illness.

No positive experiences to counter all the negative experiences.

I am not schizophrenic, but I have a form of OCD called dermatillomania that can cause me to accidentally injure people during an episode. I take medication for it which controls it rather well, but I cannot function without it.

In any case, my grade schools and high school required that I be followed around by an aide to keep an eye on me during the day, and made interactions with other classmates difficult as I was known as the "nutcase" even if nobody would ever say it in front of my face because of the aide hovering around.

In college, I no longer had an aide tagging along, but people who knew of my psychiatric issues would either avoid me or said that they did not want me around. I have had girls in college who were friendly with me but were also quick to point out how much my psychiatric issues were a dealbreaker to them even if a lot of them tried to be sympathetic.
