He wasn't just some "artist" he was a poet, song-writer, cartoonist, screenwriter, army veteran, playwright, and author. Shel Silverstein was a renassiance man and chalking up his success with women to him being "white" is vastly underestimating the status he had back then. Not only that but he worked for playboy for 40 years and was a regular at the mansion which is really why he was able to rack up such an insane bodycount anyway.
