Well, ok, let's say hypothetically you go the extreme route and just go live in the woods, totally cutting ties off with society, only taking a few tools with the money you've saved up.
This sounds great, assuming you have the necessary skills, but we'll also assume you took the time to learn all that's needed before you made the move.
There are problems with this though. While a few hundred years ago, you could make such a move with relative ease, nowadays there's simply less options. First of all, if you live in Europe for example, you'd have to move thousands of miles away to find a place where you could do this.
Secondly, the quality of places where you could live in solitude is pretty bad nowadays. All of the areas that are great for human habitation are already occupied by civilization. All that's really left are places that are either straight up unsuitable for living, or just less optimal than places you would've found in the past.
So even if you moved into the wilderness, all you'd find are places that aren't really optimal for living. Either food problems, terrain problems, temperature problems etc... Maybe Chernobyl could work if you don't mind the potential problems to your health, but I read that it's not as dangerous as people believe.
