Women do not have souls. As Augustine puts it in his treatise on the Trinity, interpreting Paul’s statement in I Corinthians 11:7 that the man is the “Image and glory of God, while the woman is the glory of man." Women were created to bring forth children and serve as submissive companions to men. And since women were not created in the image of God, their essence is intrinsically devoid of intellectual depth (as evident in modern-day society). Ultimately, the Lord Almighty elects men exclusively for salvation as they were made in His image and only they possess the intelligence to understand grace.
