This has been a really divisive topic in the UK at present, many have praised this decision, saying that older voters don't understand or advocate for the societal issues faced by the youth and that the prioritise short-term and short-sighted policies that cause damage to the economic framework of the country in the future. Others however believe that 16 and 17 year-olds are borderline politically retarded because they lack life experience, typically don't work etc.

The repercussions of lowering the voting age will be interesting to observe (You all know I like statistics by now) and will almost certainly cause an influx of support towards the more extreme, anti-establishment parties in the UK political landscape such as The Green Party (eco-socialist and lgbtq-agenda), Reform UK (anti-immigration and anti-lgbtq) and likely Jeremy Corbyn's new socialist party (for those unaware, Jeremy Corbyn is basically British Bernie Sanders, he hates Israel and got kicked out of the Labour party for 'antisemitism', I'm not woke but he's pretty based).

I'd be interested to see your opinions on the voting age being lowered to 16 and why. How would that affect things in your country?

Retarded kids shouldn't be voting but neither should boomers who still act like it's 1983
Voting should require an IQ test tbh

16 year olds are retarded and easily manipulated (not like adults arent too) but you get my point they are more easily manipulated targeted political ads will become more common and the whole system will collaspe and be rigged from the start (not like it isnt already)

That's very true but I'd like to remind you that NOTHING EVER HAPPENS

Dost thou believe such a change benefits the right or the left?

Absolutely the left
A shame for sure. Although, here I thought that the younger generation of men were becoming more red-pilled and conservative. Although, I do know that the women are the exact opposite, but I just wasn't sure if that'd balance out or overcome the conservative side.

Unlike Germany, the USA and South Korea, young men in the UK are still generally on the left and their support for the left wing has actually grown over the last 10 years (less so than women but still squarely to the left) which you can see on this graph:

Granted, there is a small sub-section of British lads aged 16-17 who support the Reform party but this is in no way the majority, and with the liberal tendencies of young women, lowering the voting age will benefit the left-wing to a considerable degree.

The hell even happened in the 2010s to make the bongs in specific become so liberal?

The cUcKed thing that's going to come out of this is that bri'ish people who pretend to be morally superior are still going to say 16 is a child and you can't jerk off to one. If you think 16 year olds have enough life experience to be deciding where the country moves on going forward then you most definitely think they're mature enough to be adults.

Should’ve been done years ago. This newer batch of 16 year olds are the most illiterate. Covid and technological brainrot raped them

I'm just also gonna say here in Bongistan 16 is the age of consent.

I have no fucking idea
The 2010 general election between Ed Miliband and David Cameron. Neither of the candidates were great but the repercussions of Cameron's victory still scar us today.

You should have to pass, at the minimum, the U.S, citizenship test to vote. Ideally you should have to also pass an A.P. U.S. history final or a 20th century history 101 final to vote.

Although that would be considered a literacy test and would thus unfortunately be illegal.

So we don’t have a choice but to continue to idiocracy.
