I binge watched it. Honestly it wasnt really that bad. It's more of a crime procedural that has an incel murderer in it, more than being about incel murderers or "the manosphere"-- so in that aspect I was actually disappointed.
If I had any complaints, it was more that it was horribly boring in many parts, just pointless minutes long footage of people emoting subtly for waaay too long, when I really just want them to get to the next plot point. Although it was blatant anti-incel propaganda, I at least appreciated that it was psychologically accurate. I like how the kid had extreme body dysmorphia, and constantly fluctuated between being troll, being a simp, feeling worthless, and easily irritated in his desperation for power. Like most movies and TV, I kind of wish the fantasy women depicted were more like that in real life-- like anime, they were all were depicted as being caring, strong, and competent people, except the town trollop that got murdered lol. I also like how every episode felt like a seperate but related chapter.
Ep1 was by far the most boring. Does not get interesting until the interrogation. But it IS funny how they make Jaime have the online behavior of a currycel, when whitecels are usually a lot more restrained and more into race trolling and being edgy than being foolish on IG.
Ep 2 was the second best episode. I thought it was funny that a HOMICIDE detective knew what an incel was, but doesn't have the slightest clue about a potential motive. That was one retarded piece of writing, though I think they tried to assuage this plot hole by making it clear that the detective was an out of touch Tyrone back in his day, he has an incel son himself, and he is just totally oblivious about SMV inequality and the blackpill. But this makes no sense as I'm sure it's a detective's job to be savvy about common motives, especially a British one, since England has it's share of incel killers.
Ep 3 was by far the best episode. The actress was amazing and so was the incel killer. The actress was skilled at being a manipulative little whore yet also having a tinge of disgust at the surface throughout she has to hide just enough till she finally traps the incel. There was something about the way the psychologist was constantly creeped out and disgusted by all the men there even the guards that seemed spot on. The incel reminded me of OJ in that he constantly denied he killed that bitch, despite getting caught red handed on CCTV, as well as getting tripped up from time to time in the interview. Although the level by which he got away with outbursts was totally overdramatized. If that dude so much as knocked the cup over, the guard would restrain him and put him in solitary just like that, interview postponed.
Ep 4 was okay, does not get interesting until they take a trip to get paint. I do like how it critques how vigilante bullies overly use "nonce" or "pedo" to just anyone they feel they can get away with. It showed a lot of empathy to parents of incels. I like how it had simple answers in a way. Jamie was an incel because he was a weak spoiled terminally online bullied outcast. If he were just better at sports, or if sluts wanted to go out with him, he would not be an incel. Although the parents gaslight themselves into thinking they could have saved their son, I like how they imply the answer is to beat your kids and take away their computers and phones.
