I wouldn't put too much stock into this just yet. There may be other reasons why the REST protein is lower in people who die earlier. It may be related to other factors that result in an earlier death which also produces lower levels of this protein.

It's important to note also that the type of brain activity is not distinguished. Somebody who worries all day is having plenty of neuronal activity, as is somebody who thinks more productively.
