MeToo isn't the cause of the difficulty.
What is, then?
Sexual liberalism facilitated by contraceptives and abortion, women's entry into the workforce, stagnating economy (with more young people living with parents), social media, dating apps, the pussification of males (porn, endocrine disruptors, lower testosterone/sperm count, and perhaps the dysgenics of modern medicine), and social atomization (rise of solitary entertainment, less community social activity). MeToo may make some males afraid approaching females, but unless you're a total autist this isn't a reasonable fear. You can tell by a lack of IOIs if a woman isn't interested in you, and if you stop pestering a female after making one failed approach there's little risk for most men of getting metoo'd.
