It's a shame to me that all the knowledge we can gain from terms like redpilled, bluepilled etc. comes from such an overrated normie film franchise. I don't want to reform the terminology, I'm just saying, sometimes when I realize I'm forced to reference a such a banal flick in order to discuss true-to-life topics in spaces such as this, I cringe a little.

While I love the Matrix films (yes, even the sequels) i must say, it sure did get blown out of proportion by normies. The films have very interesting themes, philosophical ideas, and even great action scenes and directing, but ultimately are full of cliches and generic storylines, character arcs and types and even completely unoriginal and often on the nose Jesus /bible imagery and references.
Here's a great way for me to sum up the Matrix movies:
Too smart for a below average person to get the philosophical stuff out of, most in this category just enjoy it for the fight scenes. Average and slightly above average IQ people (100 to 115) will enjoy both the action and interesting ideas in the films. But people that are above average IQ (roughly 120 and up) generally are the people who can see through the film's bullshit and see how much it falls through on itself when things are actually looked at in detail. The films create an amazing world but fill it with stereotypes and cliches. Makes nothing original of itself and ultimately is just remembered cause it had great effects and choreography.

Well maybe now. But twenty years ago it seemed pretty good. Might no of aged well but as a 14 year old I thought it was decent. Didn't try to psychoanalyse things back them. It your watching it Years after it came out then I can understand how it doesn't seem as good as it was in 99.

Fair. But tbh I don't like sci fi as a genre though so it's basically impossible for me to enjoy it anyway. The only sci fi movie I ever liked was Dark City, which was thematically similar to the Matrix and came out around the same time.
