Venting The lie known as selfies

I know everyone has at one point taken a selfie and noticed that they dont look as bad as they thought or something along the lines. Well this has happened to me and I hate it even though it doesnt make a huge difference i hate how even my normal phone comes with beauty settings already turned on, Snapchat, instagram all come with this same feature I hate the false confidence they try to implant in you and how they make ugly girls who dont give a shit about lying look better. The olny way to take an actual picture from the perspective of how others see you is to use your front facing camera. Has anyone else noticed this on there phones?

Selfie camera stretches my face out to make it even longer/narrower and makes me look like a complete freak of nature. It took me years to figure out that I wasn't QUITE this much of a mutant.

I only take pictures of myself using real cameras on timers/tripods or shooting into a mirror to increase the focal length. At least then I look ugly but realistic.

selfies/close up shots are cope. the camera lens distorts your image, especially up close. the mirror is far more accurate as its 3D, captures your motion in real time, doesnt distort your image and isnt limited to a resolution. it flips your image though. best representation of yourself in meatspace is a video from a quality camera from a fair distance with good lens.

Front camera lens produces more distortion than the reverse if I remember. But yeah, taking shots up close will most often make you look worse unless you're a fat hole that needs to cover up a bullfrog neck. It narrows your face and obscures bone structure, making midfaces artificially long, cheekbones artificially weak, etc. If you're not trying to fraud, not only is a distance pic a better representation of your looks - you'll probably look better in it. If you don't have anything to set your phone/camera on and need to take a selfie, hold it as far away from your face as your arm extends.

For me it`s much harder to look good on selfies, rather than normal camera, for some reason. Mirror represents you better anyway, the only downside is that mirror image is reversed.

i look shit with front camera but god awful with rear since im not used to it.

also, females are all masters of selfie frauding i have seen some impressive trickery in the photos of fat girls many times who look way worse irl. taking dozens of selfies a day for years does something to them
