In my opinion, the recent stagnation of the Japanese economy is due to their inherent low genetic quality and that their early monopolies have been destroyed by competent competition worldwide.

Back in 1960s, after the transistor was invented, the Japanese purchased the technology for use and then began developing calculators, lcds , cd players, audio, computer software, and other technological devices. I propose the Japanese obsession with digital technology and their powerful corporations cornered the global market for 40 years, which allowed them huge funding and nobel prizes mainly in physics.

For the most part, Japan was not damaged much by the war considering all of their gold looting and the US protection/ leniency/ charity after the war. They learned their lesson from WW1.

So, what really happened is that the Japanese had hardcore extreme corporations that would have been illegal in the US/Britain. France and Germany were basically dead technologically in this time period, whilst the Russians were always fairly screwed geographically and genetically. There's not much farmland/ ocean in Russia and the genetics are mediocre as a result.

In addition, the US ignored these mega corporations to avoid Japanese communism. So, these corporations ended up extremely powerful basically exporting technology to the world. In addition, the Japanese nation became obsessed with technology which caused all of the video games and digital arts in their country today. These technologies are simply a result of the early capitalization on US technologies with corporations like Sony, Toshiba, and Casio.
