The more time goes on, the more assertion i have for it to be true.
There is more peace to be had without it.
What Did we have before it ?
I say most likely a whole bunch was Lost in it's wake.
Plus, TV back then wasnt completely shit Before the influence of the internet.
If anything, a better world is Impossible whilst the advent of social media exists to sabotage your peace and quietude, and it persists like a tumor if left BE.

So there you have it.

abolish the internet

i am personally anti-humanist (which is not anti-humanitarian). I hate not just the internet but I am against media, and the idea that human expression is a valid pursuit for mankind. I think things like comics, movies, sport, and to an extent music (though classical existed before the 20th century, it was not technologically able to be accessable or valued by almost anyone) which all came into popularity around the exact same time due to the death of religion, have done more harm than good. They're just poking at your instincts and humans suffer from sisyphusian adaptation to life anyway and so we have never once achieved a leap forwards in happiness. We just imagine what life would be like if those things disappeared and therefore assume it is better to have them than to not. That being said, I also don't like religion either, the death of which resulted in this pursuit, or human nature

music has been a part of religious worship for a long time, and so have visual art, morality plays, etc.

they can have an effect on the human brain, which is why religions - which are artificial human constructs as well - use them to get followers excitable about an imaginary god

sports also have a fairly long history, and have been popular in countries like greece and rome

I didn't mean that was when they were invented, but when they became our focus as a society. Sport proliferated between 1880-1940, and was recreational before then. It was also only really a thing in England and America. What I mean is that it is now our focus, and is worldwide.

By the early 20th century, organizations dedicated to humanism flourished in Europe and the United States, and have since expanded worldwide

After the death of religion this has become our new 'religion'

The olympics were restarted around 1900
Football was codeified in 1860s and was only popularized around the world by 1910
Basketball league if I remember correctly started in the early 1950s
Baseball league 1876 or 1900, don't know enough about sportsball to say which one mattered but those are the two dates
First formula 1 season was 1950

Basically the pre war period was the dawn, and then it became the focus of our zeitgeist between 1950-2000, bringing us to where we are now

similarly yes music was used in ritual but we never valued the music itself. Classical is a good exception but was not the music industry we know now before about 1930. Today and for the last about 80 years, we have as a society valued the human expression, and have created incredibly large and powerful industries around it

also the greeks and romans both didn't really 'play sport' for the reasons we imagine but rather as a show because their religion valued physical strength and prided it as a virtue very highly, especially the spartans. They didn't really care about the result, it was just pressed into them that it was your duty to be strong unless you were a slave

Franchise owners of sportsball teams don't care about results either. They use whatever they can to make money.

Also, let's not romanticize 'austerity' of the past. They had their fair share of indulgence and depravity as well.

Social media to be exact driven by algorithm is kinda created this mess
Because Forum like this needs time to find

i don't know what is so hard to get about the idea i am saying we focus on these things as a society. Why is it relevant at all to point out that sports team owners don't give a fuck and how is it the same reason why the ancient greeks didn't care about the results? Also the reason they don't care is built into your answer, that yeah it's business to them. Funnily enough this is one of the things I don't like about it but you're just saying it because apparently it is a point against what I said even though I'm talking about our cultural focus, not a handful of billionares economizing of that cultural focus

Also I wasn't 'romanticizing austerity of the past' I was talking about humanism as a philosophy you retard. Discussing what people focus on to make their lives worth living. In the past, everyone was religious and when that ended, people searched for a new motivation and settled on expression. So it's not even really about 'austerity' to begin with, nor is it even related to austerity or about how we no longer do it. I'm saying we do this because we needed to. And I said I don't respect religion.

This is one of the most associational replies I've ever read. You're just ignoring the whole context of what I said and pointing out vaguely similar concepts and imagining that is what I was talking about. I'm talking about how people turned to this when they became able to doubt the existence of a god, not praising the 'austerity of the past'. This is known as 'humanism'. And it isn't some theory I am pulling out of my ass, it's one of the most discussed, important and well covered societal trends in human history.

Nothing you said has even the slightest knowledge of the philosophy behind any of this. It just assumes i miss austerity because your walnut brain pieced that together. Your reply paid no notice to why I was saying that the greeks and romans didn't care about the result of sport. You just said 'neither do franchise owners' as if that has any bearing on the conversation. It's just an observation, like if I was describing the taste of apples and you said 'oranges are also a fruit.'
That means nothing.

fuck i hate people
WTF? You're just way too up your ass. Yes, I did take notice of the 'reason' why you think people hyper-focus on the 'activities' you mentioned. It's just not true. You're reacting like a fucking autist as if your world is falling apart because of my comment. There's overindulgence when you follow your favorite team week-in week-out, listen to music, consume Netflix goyslop, watch marvel movies. That's why religion with all its flaws isn't appealing to most when they are not forced. It demands a level of self-control. Also, internet has shown us even general public for the most part care ONLY about making money using media. It's no wonder with the rise of internet, "Let's play series", "Movie/TV Show/Music Podcasts", "Football fan channels" have been showing up in scores.

So, IT IS indeed related to austerity, abstinence, and self-control. People have latched onto these things not to replace 'religion', but for overindulgence. Your autistic screeching gives the impression you have been studying this 'humanism' for a while. yet, you have no real opinions of your own, only stating textbook opinions like an npc. JFL.

Also, stop making dramatic statements like 'fuck i hate people'. It's fucking cringe. You're not him, brother.

Yeah and Guess what all the "sex is everywhere" psyop is also in large part due to the internet. When it would only BE found in some obscure quiosque magazine seller.

What a wonderful thing it was.
You could go OUTSIDE and not see whores in yoga pants
.

Because, there was nothing "present" to influence their retarded bird brains to dress up like Babylonian wenches who think the world is beneath them.

But it Will all colapse, thankfully we just need more angry men endowed with righteous RAGE.

Normies are suffering, but it's not there yet. They don't suffer a 1/10 of what we do.
It Will have to get worse which well... HAHAHAHAA it is!!!!

The worst thing about the internet is that it completely destroyed the delusions we once had that most people live similar lives. In the past, you saw some Chad in Hollywood movies and thought that he was lucky, but ultimately it was so distant from your own life that it was hard for your brain to even comprehend that he is actually real. Now, with the internet, you can see how there are people all around you who are born wealthy, born attractive, and just spend their whole life fucking and doing drugs and shit. Same thing with porn: in the past, if you watched porn, it felt like some distant thing that was very fake and choreographed. Now, with the rise of amateur porn and onlyfans, you see that there are all kinds of people in the world having hot sex all the time, and it becomes impossible to deny that truth any longer. Things that once lurked in the shadows are now in the forefront of people's minds, and we are unable to cope with this fact. This is ultimately why so many people are dropping out of society, because participation in society was predicated on delusions that no longer exist.

Also true. But i think some restrictions on partial ignorance and accessibility kept a better mental Health for the average joe and consequently society as a whole.
I say the curtain was lifted in 2009/10.
