Marriage is at the end of the day a patriarchal institution. A proper marriage in the traditional sense assumed the following rules at its core across all cultures
>The man is the head and the women submits to him/serves him.
>The woman's primary job is to take care of household and raise kids. Everything else is secondary
>Monogamy is strictly enforced, adultery is punished
>Fornication of any kind outside of marriage is prohibited(including premarital sex)
>Women have little say in who they will marry since there role is inherently submissive. The serf doesn't choose the master.
>It is for life, no ifs or buts.
These are the values which ensured that the marriage could support the institution of family upon which our society is based.
Folks nowadays flout all of these and then wonder why modern marriages fail so much or why families break apart so easily. And with modern feminism trying to bring down patriarchy, marriage has become meaningless since the foundations are gone. Even "family" as a system is dying as individuals become more atomized and disconnected.
But for some unknown reason the elites have decided to not do away with marriage just yet. Maybe having people get married still serves some societal purpose. But they can't base it on patriarchy and tradition anymore. So they base it on "LOVE", an undefined human emotion invoking positive feelings. Its intangible and fickle, and so are the marriages.
So a marriage is pointless if the above foundations are not present. In such a situation you wouldn't really be a husband, but a provider whose sole purpose is to maintain the women's lifestyle. Because if she can't respect your role as a husband, her role as a wife and submit to it then her role reduces to that of a leecher. This arrangement is defacto a losing game for the man.
Tldr: Marriage is inherently patriarchal and if your marriage is not based on such foundations you will succumb to betacuckery
