Genocide. Quick, brutal, organized. A true killing machine.
Genocide is a form of mass killing commonly used by the government to wipe out either a certain group or all opponents of the government. It is an organized event often being executed brutally with the most famous killings reaching millions of deaths.
But genocide has not always been commited by the government. What happens when the people have had enough of a specific target group and decide to act upon themselves?
The Rwandan Genocide
One of the biggest mass killings in our world history is the Rwandan Genocide.
It commenced on April 7th 1994 and lasted until July 15th the same year, with experts estimating 600.000 - 800.000 deaths, mass rape in the hundreds of thousands and 2.000.000 people fleeing Rwanda during or immediately after the genocide.
What makes this so special is, that it wasn´t any regular genocide, organized and executed by the government. It was organized by the civilians and the military.
The Cause
Due to the bad borders made up by European colonists, Rwanda was a country primarily made up by two ethnic groups. The Hutu and the Tutsi. In 1994 the Hutu made up 85% of the population, while the Tutsi only claimed 14%.
Despite being a minority, the Tutsi were often wealthier and had access to upper education. In 1990 a Tutsi rebel group invaded northern Rwanda coming from Uganda and after some clashing a ceasefire agreement was signed between the Tutsi rebels of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and Rwandas Hutu President in 1993. At this point tensions between Tutsis and Hutus were very high.
The Genocide
On April 6th 1994 (One day before the genocide) Rwandas Hutu president was assasinated (suspectedly by the Tutsi RPF) together with the Burundian president with their aircraft being shot down, leaving a power vacuum. One day later the Hutu military took de facto control of the country and together with many Hutu civilians started mass killing Tutsi civilians. While most of the victims were Tutsis, a lot of important Hutus lost their lives as well.
The genocide ended when the Tutsi RPF conquered all of Rwanda forcing the genociders to flee into neighboring Zaire (DR Congo). In 1996 RPF Rwanda invaded Zaire to capture the genociders resulting in the first congo war with another 200.000 deaths and the overthrowing of Zaires authoritarian government along with Zaire changing its name to the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Modern World
Today, homosexuals make up 3-20% depending on the news source. They censor everything against them yet claim to be oppressed. They are a danger to society and the Burgeoisie.
Many Neo-Nazis claim an authoritarian government is needed to commit genocide. But the Rwandan Genocide teaches us otherwise. Anger the majority enough and you will face deadly consequences (all in video game).
