The Chinese are bad warriors in battle, but good at propaganda warfare.

The PRC, being created with the help of the USSR, which financed the CPC, and Mao understood Stalin's supremacy in the communist world, eventually created an alternative communism that won the minds of Western youth and completely replaced Soviet communism.
The PRC was able to obtain an initial industrial base from the USSR until the beginning of the split, which began in 1956, when Mao perceived Stalin's exposure as a threat to his power and received the development of a nuclear bomb from the Soviets. China received markets and investments from the United States in the 1980s and 1990s, thanks to which it began to flourish while the USSR disappeared from the world maps. That's why I don't believe in the prospects of any country challenging China, like India, for example, the Chinese will simply make the whole world hate the Indians. As in the 1960s, many communists hated the post-Stalinist USSR for exposing the cult of Stalin and the rule of the Prague Spring.

Propaganda means shit when you can't beat anybody. Russia is China's bodyguard, that's why Trump is trying to get the russians on his good side. Russians can beat anyone in conventional warfare, the chinks need vodkas to survive.

Russia is a source of gas and oil at a low price for China, that is, a raw material appendage. In fact, it is a puppet and proxy of the PRC. The current Russian Federation is the same for China as China was in 1949-1953 for the USSR.

Yes, but without the russians flexing muscles and looking tough, do you think the chinese can survive? Russians are a tried and true warrior race, the chinese are just walking calculators. Simply put, russians are men, vikings, killers - the chinese are just businessmen. China needs Russia, not vice versa.

Yes, and in addition to , China's war against Vietnam should also be included in the crucial events of 1979. With this war, China did not want to conquer or destroy Vietnam, a member of COMECON and one of the most loyal allies of the USSR. He wanted to symbolically show her that the entire Soviet socialist bloc remains the Chinese enemy, and the next war could be a nuclear strike on the USSR.
According to the same notes, the deputy Chernyaev, the head of the international department of the Central Committee of the CPSU, can be seen that in the USSR they were more afraid of a nuclear war with China than with NATO. As Chernyaev wrote, it is possible to come to an agreement with Americans and Europeans – they are still people of the same culture as us. And you can't negotiate with Maoist schizophrenics. In fact, the main figures of the USSR were more afraid of China than the United States and the West.

I continue reading the book by CIA agent John Barron "KGB Today", published in 1983.
A large place in the book is devoted to the interrogation of the Soviet defector from the KGB residency in Japan Stanislav Levchenko.
Like China today, it seemed then that Japan would replace America as the world's leading economic power. Especially since the US was in a really bad way in the 1970s: losing the Vietnam War, losing to the Arab countries in the oil confrontation, losing in Iran with their Islamic revolution, and the poor economic situation in America itself with stagflation and unemployment.

In Japan, the KGB had especially good connections with residents in the Japanese media. Dozens of well-known journalists and even several editors-in-chief were "Soviet people". In particular, the KGB fed the necessary information through the Japanese media, especially since the world's attention was focused on the growing power of Japan, and "everyone who needed to" carefully read their media.

For example, one of the KGB's tasks in the mid-1970s was to finally set the US and Europe at odds with the Arab oil-producing countries. Because Soviet oil was flowing in a rapid stream to Europe, and the USSR was interested in high oil prices, achieved, among other things, by the embargo of Arab countries. And many fakes about how the US and Europe hated the Arabs and Islam (to the point that America was supposedly ready to take revenge on Saudi Arabia for its oil embargo by bombing Mecca) were fed through the leading Japanese media.

The USSR's fear of China is also striking. The KGB did not have a residency in China, and if it did, it was quickly identified. And therefore information about China was mainly collected through Japan, whose companies worked there and understood something about the layout of Chinese politics.
The Soviet rulers and security officers called the Chinese elite nothing less than schizophrenics. That their behavior was completely irrational. An example of this, for example, was Pol Pot in Kampuchea - a radical Maoist and a protege of Beijing. In the USSR, they were afraid that China would drop an atomic bomb on border Soviet cities (for example, Vladivostok and Alma-Ata) "just like that", in a fit of schizophrenic attack of Mao or his henchmen.
The Soviet Union feared China more than the United States. Because the behavior of the Americans could be calculated and analyzed, but the behavior of the Chinese could not.

China has always been a rice farming civilization and that makes it harder to train soldiers. Rice farming is very intensive and weakening. That's why Mongolia was often able to take over China despite having a population that was 100× smaller.

Chinese culture also does not strongly encourage militarism. I recently read a sociological study of Chinese youth in 2021, where they were asked about who they dream of becoming. The military profession was at the very bottom of the list, in fact, an official was in the first place, then a businessman, then a professor and a researcher, and only then a military / police officer.

Which makes sense, they have such a large population that if only 0.5% of men were in military, they'd have 3 million soldiers

Edward Luttwak writes that since the army in China has always been the most unattractive institution ("only the poor and fools went there"), the PLA has now come up with a way to attract educated personnel:
"The PLA can provide good opportunities for people with education; for example, by immediately granting the rank of Shao Xiao to fit (equal in the United States positions of Major OF-3) to a Doctor of sciences who has no previous military experience."

Interesting read. I was always curious about the actual relationship between USSR and Mao’s China.

Modern warfare is demographics and cultural

PLA is downsizing. The old Soviet human waves just doesn't work anymore. PLA knew this in 1991 gulf war.

I think the popularization of drones, makes for less manpower requirements. If you were to send 4 men to recon, or a drone. You only need one drone pilot. logistically drones are way easier too because they don't need food, training, or equipment

So I think they will be fine.
