I really took the 3ds days for granted. Or maybe not, because I truly played the fuck out of smash 4. I wish I had a wii u growing up

Pretty sure this is gen 8 iirc. Graphics have barely improved relatively speaking for 13 years, same with online connectivity, games weren’t forced to be woke,

Games from this era are still being ported over to the new gens as if they’re new, and have sequels.

It was definitely the games. No woke gay shit, most games were built for single player, no online / pay to win bullshit, linear, free-roaming was new at the time (Vice City, Spider-Man 2, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, etc.)

I would muster up to it being "nostalgia", but I think that's bullshit, because I can say the same about movies that were made way before I was born that I was watching back then, then comparing them to modern films and there's no comparison. I really do believe we peaked, no just with gaming, but in general, around the early 2000's.

Everything before 2020 was better and normal. 2008-2013 was definitely peak for gayming.
The ps2 era consistently had good games every month but none of them come close to the quality, gameplay and narrative experience of the ps4/5 gems that drop once in a blue moon like TLOU or MGSV

This is something I’ve been realizing lately…. newer consumer tech =\= better. And now whenever I see a new tech series product released, I’ll assume there are always some features that advertisers will never mention that made the product worse. Happens all the time with phones, cars, etc

You cant "overdrive" that away, best case scenario is a bit better input lag and horrible image ghosting
