I believe the age of consent should be changed, younger or older is completely fine, but first I’d like to bring up one fact as it is right now, the age of consent is 18 years old, why? Why is the age of consent 18 years old? Women don’t end their maturity until the early 20s, and men into the late 20s. And let’s look at that other perspective, women start their puberty between the ages of 8-13 and men between the ages of 9 and 14.
Now, speaking of the age of consent, something that has nothing to do with age is this decently strong argument “the age of consent is 18, because we don’t want children to be sexually exploited by adults” fair enough, but what do we mean by sexual exploitation? Rape? Sexual assault? Those are already crimes, and that can happen to you at any age, so does it really matter? Plus, let’s not forget, children have sex as young as 14, as that’s the age of when they first enter high school, and switching from middle school to a place with a bunch of freaky ahh lil teenagers makes those people freaky as well. So, I’d like to present my ideas for the new ages of consent.
16 years old: That’s when men AND women usually end their puberty, it’s between 16 and 18, but considering they usually have sex around the age of 14 I believe this being lowered makes a little bit of sense. Yes, they’re still not mentally mature by the slightest, but neither are 18 years old by that metric, plus, mental maturity comes with life experiences, I know people that are 40 that haven’t gone through a lick of life, and I knew 15 year olds that have practically seen it all and are very wise, mental maturity comes with experience, not age, although age is a decent measure of how to calculate mental maturity, it isn’t a sure fire way. Plus, what do we say about autistic people, are they just never allowed to bone?
25 years old: This is the age when men’s bodies fully mature, their brain is at its peak capacity, and women’s as well, this in turn completely plays into the normie belief that “People should be mature before they have sex”, well here it is, 25. Honestly the AOC being this late makes a little more sense than 16 in my eyes.
