Most people who enjoy watching gore, I think, are doing so subconsciously for sexual reasons. I would assume that there is a predilection for heterosexual men to prefer media of women as the recipient of the violence, and the reverse for homosexuals. The source of that curiosity is in the connection between sexuality and violence.
But true, it makes no difference in the result of the "crime" in terms impact on the world, which is nothing.
