>In the third world country (read cheap labour) where I live, the average office grunt worker get paid around $141 per month.

>Due to extreme unemployment there is always a reserve of educated college graduate unemployed youth who can read write and type English. Maybe do a little 2+2 as well.

>An assertive foid who is now a registered accountant from an upper middle class family visits USA for a conference meeting

>There, while meeting her American friends in a hotel room, she learns how much American businesses are paying firms just for simple book keeping.

>She realises she can get it done for a lot cheaper and immediately promises a lot of them a lower rate. The word of mouth spreads and suddenly she has a lot to deliver.

>She then comes back, raises the required funds to hire staff and set up an office. Even sells off her own jewellery.

>She hires the aforementioned unemployed youth for the same $141. Since they don't know jack about American book keeping she trains them and then makes them sign a bond which will require them to serve her for atleast 5 years.

>Many of them are relieved that they are getting any work at all so they sign the bond. One can forget about shifting jobs or even getting a raise for the next five years.

>The business grows since many more American firms want to save money. The foid becomes a top class enterpreneur, getting special invitations to conferences, media attention the whole she bang. Quite literally making money in dollars as they say.

>While the workers make no more than the $141 local suppressed wage. Which they cannot leave for five years in case better opportunities arise.

>Now it's true that for some of them even this American funded wage wouldn't exist without her business. And it's all moving into the local economy.

>But, the workers see none of that surplus which one might expect from engaging with a business with first world clients. One could argue that this is necessary since the entire point was using cheap labour to undercut American firms. But there is still enough surplus that the owner gets herself a top end Lamborghini and multiple properties all filled with personal servants. (And God knows what else)

This is what passes for women empowerment in this shithole. Using brutalising labour conditions and unemployment to make work for first world firms as a middle man(middle woman?). And being celebrated as an inspiration for generations of girls entering college. (Many of whom will end up in the same $141 job)

I can still vividly remember when she dropped a bit of chicken on the table while eating. And in a show of not wanting the organisers to deal with her mess she got her personal assistant to clean it up instead.:feelshaha:

Reminds me of the time when I attended a student Liberal meeting, they were so fixated on the idea of women in leadership positions is kind of hilarious. And its like they are just waiting for any excuse to pull out that chart out.

In one of those meetings, they did exactly that, and I mentioned that Onion video about the First Female Dictator being "a step ahead". I mean, sure, the top suit is someone of the same gender as you, but how much has the actual gap narrowed? What meaning does promoting this certain individual produce for your sisters?

Could it be that prioritising on this goal is a misguided? Are there other, more appropriate metrics we should be using to measure whatever disparity that you wish to rectify?

Could it be worth questioning whether “gender” is truly separate from or more important than “class” but rather stem from and return to it?

Could the issue really with the firm itself, and not who's in charge?

And, remember when people thought Kim Jong Un had died, and his sister was taking over? That didn't happen, but doesn't it have the same impression? Imagine a woman running one of the world’s most repressive dictatorships instead of her brother.

Real progressive stuff, right? :lul:
