Study 1 shows that female evaluators viewed the Asian candidate to be less socially skilled than the White candidate, and this perception explained why female evaluators were less willing to hire the Asian candidate, relative to the White candidate, into the position requiring social skills (versus technical skills). On the other hand, male evaluators did not view the Asian candidate to be less socially skilled than the White candidate; and therefore, they did not differentially place the job candidate based on race. In other words, given the identical (not just equivalent) credentials (i.e., educational background, work experience), female evaluators were less likely to hire the Asian candidate, relative to the White candidate, into positions requiring social skills (such as the PR position) and more likely to channel the Asian candidate into positions requiring technical skills (such as the IT position). This disadvantage in initial placement may limit opportunities of Asians to broaden their careers away from stereotypically technical fields.

Replicating the findings in Study 1, Study 2 shows that female evaluators rated the Asian candidate to be less socially skilled than the White candidate and were therefore less willing to promote the Asian candidate than the White candidate. Male evaluators, on the other hand, perceived no significant difference between Asian and White candidates on perceived social skills and competence and showed no significant difference in their willingness to promote the Asian candidate versus the White candidate. At first blush, this may appear at odds with the Sy et al. (2010) results where there was no significant main effect of sex of participant on evaluations of Asian and White candidates. However, their studies do not report whether they tested for the interactions between sex of evaluator and race of candidate that we examined in this research.

In both studies, female evaluators detected significant differences between the social skills of Asian and White candidates, whereas male candidates did not. Our theory suggests that the sex of the evaluator impacted these assessments and subsequent job decisions because the importance that women place on their own social skills caused them to pay more attention to the social skills of others. However, our empirical results were not able to provide direct evidence for this theory. Future research should investigate whether there is empirical evidence for this causal mechanism we suggest here.

Females are the most racist when it comes to sexual selection. They see race the way they see name brands, like a gucci bag, or a louie vutton purse. Its a status symbol to them. Its criminal how nobody is allowed to call this out. However I still believe
