I didn't find the situation amusing due to the insanity of the statement nor did I find myself angry due to my objective genetic reality. I found only complete numb defeatism; specifically in regards to the way my oblivious boomer parents raised me. I was in the kitchen when after a brief, one statement interaction with my dad about the food I was making suddenly out of nowhere said "you are tall", that was it. I just went deadpan and said "no, I'm not", and he then told me "If you say so" in a taken aback tone. I then with the same deadpan tone that I previously used, said "No, I'm objectively short, my height is less than being in the upper 50th percentile". He then said in a surprised tone "Oh yeah? I'll have to measure you". I'm a 23 year old guy ffs ...not a 13 year old boy on the precipice of any sort of incoming growth spurt. I'm 5'7.5'' and stopped growing before turning 17 and usually just round up to 5'8'' as to me it feels like the first incremental where you won't at least be viewed as having the same height as a female although you will still be viewed that way. To me it was satisfying to btfo him in this brief exchange because it just shows that most people are completely oblivious to the most basic of statistics.
