I am a huge Bethesda fanboy. Starfield had a mixed reception, but I still liked it a lot. Played like 150 hours of it, did pretty much all the quests in the game. Starfield has serious, fundamental design flaws, and it often feels like Bethesda doesn't know why their fans love their games, but I still had a lot of fun with it. At times, I did feel like a real explorer. But it had the potential to be so much better...
I was very excited for the Shattered Space DLC. The new planet does look amazing and exploration is better because a lot of the locations are handcrafted instead of procedurally generated. But the entire DLC feels like it was cut content from the main game and repurposed into a separate DLC. It's a DLC about a major faction that gets constantly mentioned in the base game, yet there's essentially nothing with them.
There isn't a single notable or interesting character in the DLC. I don't remember any character. There was a lot of dialogue, but it was boring and uninteresting. There were some pretty good side quests that I enjoyed. And regarding the main story, I was excited to find out what happened. But the reason everything happened is so boring. The ending and the conclusion was boring and uneventful.
The thing that disappointed me the most is that I left the DLC without any new weapons or armor. There are no guaranteed unique items to be rewarded to you. It's all randomly generated. This was the same problem with the base game as well, where you would find a good set of armor, then you wouldn't find something better for 50 hours. I did not leave the DLC with any new abilities or bonuses. No new mechanics. Just sad.
I remember the Fallout 3 DLCs. No matter your character build, you were guaranteed to leave at the end of the DLC with at least SOMETHING that you could use.
Now that I am writing this review, it feels much more negative than when I played. I guess because I was in the ''honeymoon'' phase and I was just excited for the new content to play. But now it's had time to settle in. And it's unfortunately just not very good.
If Bethesda fucks up Elder Scrolls 6, it might be over for them.
