Christians say that God is real because everything has a creator. Something cannot come from nothing.

Atheists counter that argument by saying the idea of God being the creator of everything cannot be true because that would mean something would have created God. If God was created by another God then that means we have more than 1 God which contradicts Christianity and all other abrahmic religions.

Did God create himself? Did God always exist?

What are your thoughts?

I think religion was a way for people to cope in ancient times when there was no science. Like the Bible is a fantasy, not a scientific book, of course there are logical holes in it. There has always been a God, and what was before God. God created Eve from Adam's rib, but if Adam and Eve created all the other people, then did the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve fuck each other to increase the human race?

It's a way to make slaves beat themselves into working hard

Imene in alot of religions, apparently God just always existed. That's just the answer.

That's kind of the reason why I understand atheist's view points when it comes to religion and it just simply not having an answer for everything. But as human beings I don't think we can understand and comprehend everything in the universe, not even in the world we are living in. So I can believe that there could be a god that created us. But it's also likely that we was a product of just pure evolution

This, the priestly class always has used religion (now more broadly known as ideology) in order to command the bottom 90% of people.

Reminds me of an older meme:

It’s a very complex subject

We dont know what is in outer space

Argument is that God exists outside of the dimension of time and without time He doesnt needs a point of creation and existed since always. Like "I AM" means He exists always equally at any point and because of that has the foreknowledge of everything. I dont know tbh, Bible doesnt explains anything before the creation of our universe.

One would simple need to display a first cause and it being intelligent

Even atheist must admit that there must have been something self existing and uncreated in order for that to produce something. If not, literally nothing would exist.

if god is immaterial then he doesn't matter

if you believe that god is self-existing and uncreated, why couldn't the same apply to the universe? What if reality itself is just a self-existing and uncreated process? Not that it came from nothing, but that it had always existed, and has been constantly changing.

I think the 'arguments for god's existence' just define him out of existence. once you decide that god must be a non-material, non-physical being of pure mind (a completely antiquated idea btw), then all you're actually doing is excluding him from being real.

what's a non-material thing? maybe a vacuum. but god isn't even a vacuum. he doesn't occupy space. he doesn't have a brain. he can't be perfect, because he has no beauty. he can't do anything, because that is a physical action and would mean he was just another physical being like a plant or a rock.

atheists don't believe in a god

but religious people go further and define him out of existence

science is somewhat reasonable, claiming that the universe began from simple things and eventually grew in complexity until things like life and humans could evolve

but creationists aren't satisfied with that

science claims that humans took billions of years to evolve, and the human brain is a complex material form which didn't exist in the primitive universe.

creationists believe that more complex forms arose when there was no material complexity, or even a material reality, at all. it's an absurd idea tbh

exactly. it seems incoherent and unlikely that the very first thing that ever came into reality was complex enough to define it.

a gradual process of increased complexity over time seems more likely and such processes can be observed in the real world (evolution for example)

Indeed.

Isn't the thing "everything that BEGINS to exist has a cause"?
Then the atheist would need to show that God has a beginning

The atheists are wrong because God does not have a "God".

God, by definition, is eternal. He is uncreated.

God is the ultimate reality. He exists by default.

The material universe is a creation of God, and God exists outside of it.

There could be multiple gods for all we know. I still hold true that there's something that made all of this. As to what though is anyone's guess.

This stuff is all easily searchable online from both perspectives. Can we not shit up the board with religious debate? If God doesn't exist, I can rest in peace, if God does exist, I will rally the armies of hell to destroy him for what he's done.

The creator of time wouldn't need to follow something like continuity

I always thought religion was just a way to make the commonfolk happy with the unfairness that they face compared to the wealthy elite. "We're all sinners bro life is inherently bad for everyone, god loves us all the same" as they sit in their 3 million dollar mansion while you barely make ends meet.

Then on top of that the rich guy is more likely to get into heaven becuase he lives a good life and has no reason to detest god. Meanwhile the poor guy goes to hell for denouncing god after spending his entire life suffering.
