Some primary factors that come into effect especially in colder regions:
- less likely to die from starvation because of larger fat reserves (colder region are more likely to have famines due to bad harvests etc.)
- Less vulnerable to rapid climatic changes (read harsh winters)
- Better thermal efficiency due to lower surface to volume ratio (same reason why foids feel cold more easily) Maybe a reason why africans have bigger dicks and noses (cooling)
- More efficient metabolism overal thanks to bigger heart and lungs (resulting in lower breath and heart frequency)
This results in secondary changes of the reproductive strategy going from many offspring to few offspring, because bigger organisms need more food and are more likely to survive. Pooling all ressources to few children leads through better nutrition and psychological care in turn to more growth.
