/a/ - for elitist anime and manga fans. They don’t mess around, they ban people who ask basic questions regarding the two mediums to keep it alive and good (just look at reddit and other similar anime discussion forums)

/g/ - for technology related discussion. People there are really helpful. Had a few questions regarding a programming language and got a good response and a bunch of online textbooks that I was trying to find myself.
