Some were well received, some were poorly received.
Force Awakens, Star Trek 2009, Terminator Dark Fate, Alien Romulus, a million video game remakes, etc.
It's like the challenge has been set "Can we make the original again?".
I mean... obviously if you throw enough money at something and have a team of fairly talented people you can copy something passably well.
But what's that really achieving? It's still basically a copy.
Isn't it better to make something new?
But I guess the double challenge of both creating something new AND successful is too much so it's easier to just copy.
