It's okay for women to do pretty much anything that isn't specifically outlawed, and even then there's a chance they will get a free pass in many people's eyes. That's the moral orthodoxy of our time.
I was thinking about this earlier whilst waiting for a bus. There was some clapped-out Euroroastie having a Facetime conversation with some family of hers for the whole 25 minutes we were both waiting there. She was listening via her phone speakers playing out loud, not headphones. The audio was loud, tinny, and low quality, and being played in a small semi-enclosed space. I was wondering what would happen if I said, "that's really obnoxious -- can you turn that down or off or put some headphones in?" Would there be any chance that the woman would think, "I guess that's not a very pleasant thing to do in public -- I should stop and avoid that in future"?
I can't really see that happening. She might be intimidated into complying, but there's no way she would think she was in the wrong. Even if she suspected she might be, she would find some rationalisation to convince herself I was really the bad guy. Women are children with literally zero capacity to take responsibility for their actions. Large swathes of our societies have given them moral license in pretty much all areas of life not explicitly governed by law.
We deserve to collapse.
