It seems that they wanted to make the protagonist diverse. OK so... why not a Japanese man... he is not white so therefore surely would count as diverse? Or not?

I think the problem is though... it just doesn't look logical to most people. And it looks a LOT like they just did it for DEI reasons, which is probably the case.

I guess we'll see how the game does and how all this affects sales if at all.

It would also be interesting to see if there's a pattern of the left selecting against east Asians, as I think they tend to.

I watched a decent bit and what I can say is that the game is just boring AF. setting aside how contrived it is for there to be no NPCs that look down on the FL for being a foid or the ML for being black, the dialogue is extremely corny, bland, uninspired and contrived (like how quickly FL warms up to ML after learning he helped slaughter everyone in her villiage). It's crazy how quickly a random villager girl and a random slave become so well respected and loved by everyone in the matter of weeks. Remember how hard it was for Connor to earn his strips in AC3? I would prefer if there was a lot of DEI cringe since at least it'd be funny but it's honestly just boring AF and the DEI has little to do with it.

Tbh anything after Syndicate isnt even worth playing for free. They became so repetitive with cringe storyline. See camp, beat up camp, repeat x100000000 times.
