Experienced this last night. I was aware of two voices talking outside my bedroom and the door opening, then I was aware of someone bearing down on me uncomfortably close and starting to lift off my bed covers. I grasped hold of them and said "Hello?" while keeping my eyes shut. No response. A few seconds later I opened my eyes and the covers were half off me.

This was the second time I've had this. The first time, I was aware of a shadowy figure in the corner of the room and it came up and turned me so I was perpendicular to my resting position and started pushing me towards the wall. Moments later I opened my eyes and felt a sudden jolt as I 'returned' to my resting position.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?

I get it often, I've gotten used to it by now. At first I heard voices during it aswell, 2 of them specifically but as I got more and more used to it the dreams I have during it got less scary. Now at worst, I'll just feel like someone is watching me during paralysis.

For waking up from it, I recommend trying to wiggle your toes.

Yes, usually with wet dreams.

Just don't sleep on your back theory.

Spooky. Sleep paralysis is something of my nightmares. I'm a very vivid dreamer to the point I can't distinguish my dreams from reality. If I get sleep paralysis I'll prob die TBH.

I haven't had sleep paralysis again since this happened. It was interesting to experience it without going through the traumatic, horrifying experiences suffered by so many, usually the sensation of being attacked by an evil entity and being unable to defend oneself.

Both times it happened, I was lying on my back when I woke up. I sleep on my front so in theory I'm unlikely to experience it again.

I've experienced it a few times. Awful sensation.

I have experienced it many times. It is something else. Usually it's the cause of something bad in a dream and I suddenly wake up. I don't get any illusions or anything of the sort usually. But I can't move, I can't talk, I'm completely frozen. One time I was wondering if I was having night seizures that coincided with a nightmare of getting shocked by aliens or something of the sort.

Usually I'm only able to make out whimpers and move my fingers. I actually called out for my mom the last time because I thought that the dream was real. It took me a very long to get up to the volume where she was able to hear me.

Nope, don’t think I’ve ever been paralyzed in my sleep.

That sounds tough tbh. I already had it as well but it was very, very mild compared to what you described.

I very rarely sleep on my back and only ever got it when doing so.

I honestly don't know what side I'm asleep on. I toss and turn all throughout the night. I do recall I think mostly waking up on my back but my memory is shot. When I actually fall asleep though it's always on my sides as I find it a bit uncomfortable trying to fall asleep on my back.

It is not that bad. It is just very surreal as movement functions slowly return to your body from only starting out with very light breaths. Plus it likely feels longer than it actually is.

So I just had a very vivid dream. I'm not sure if I would consider it sleep paralysis in the traditional sense, but the response it invoked in me was stronger than any I've had from my sleep paralysis experiences. I was sitting in the back row of what I thought was an otherwise deserted bus when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a guy walking to the back row and turning to walk towards me. I turned to look up at him because I thought he was going to ask me something, but instead he lunged/grabbed at my throat aggressively. This triggered a fight-or-flight response in me - I was so taken aback - then he sat down, scowling at me. His appearance was very vivid - he looked in his 40s with mid-length slightly graying hair and looked quite scruffy. I tried to psyche myself up to fight him, but at this point I woke up, but the fight-or-flight response felt very real.

I had woken up around an hour before the dream and gone to the toilet before going back to bed. As long as I've only had a few hours' sleep, I can always get back to sleep when I do this, although this time it took a bit longer than usual, and it obviously wasn't a deep sleep.

This dream didn't have the traditional characteristics of sleep paralysis - supernatural evil entity, the feeling of being unable to move - but it felt very real. Pretty strange.
