so i am not tech savvy but i am willing to learn.

i have just finished the documentary on aaron swartz called "the internet's own boy" and i was just fascinated by his passion and his knowledge on computer science.

i don't know if this is a massive cope, but i really found interesting the stem field that i never even bat an eye on because me being an artistic fag boy all my life.

i know that i don't have the money nor the opportunity to be a stem major but i don't know, i will just start learning on my own of jewtube or something.

any advice for me?

youll need an iq of 115 or above to be any good. so if u aint that just ldar, thats what im doing.

Being hacker isn't for everyone. I tried something in programming and hacking and if you don't have enough persistence you'll achieve there nothing like me. Currently I'm preparing (final exams in high school) for IT studies and perhaps I wasn't learned good enough to understand programming.

Yes...I see. I was once very interested in Network Security.

I have no advice, though I offer some people I met years ago:

Idiot

Idiocy

Idiots

welp, i will just try and fall of the rut

Decent approximation. My VIQ is 112, and yet I only managed to learn some of the crytography concepts/techniques.

well... should i start with basic math and programming?

shit... well if i am going to jump the cliff i will have to be pretty committed

I would be interested in this too tbh

How do you even know your IQ without being giga soy

Yes, if you want, I tried programming in Python and C++,tbh Python seems to be easier

wais-4 iq test given by a psychologist usually, u can estimate it based on grades and performance, if youve ever done SATs they are also a good estimation

The only hacker i wanna be is Vinnie hacker

I just don't know where to start. If you know any good resources lmk
yes... because first i need to learn computing and shit so if i find a great source, i can pass it to you

yeah true. Probably you would start with white hat hacking or something

I know but the only way to learn is white hat then you can do blackhat after
yes, we need to know the good side first before going to the dark side

Just be a hacker and go to prison like Aaron Swartz was about to before killing himself theory .

I was interesed some time ago and it's not an easy thing, also competitive as hell. You first have to be really good at programming, then switch to hacking. You need to pick a programming languaje like C++ and start from there. I'm gonna be honest, you should try learning a programming lenguaje(your choice) first and then mastering it somewhat, then you may be able to swtich.

At least from my experience it was too fucking tedious and hard.

Actually doesn't sound that bad if you are good at programming. What can you do as a hacker?

You can do lot of stuff, i'm assuming you'll go the White hat ethical way. You can mantain servers, find vulnerabilities in either Web Apps/ Websites in general and notify the companies, you can do Capture the Flag like events. It must be one of the most fun parts of IT, but it's too damn near hard i cannot stress this enough. If you have had problems with procrastination then i feel like this is not gonna be for you, i don't want to limit anybody but damn.

I was so hyped up because there's bug bounty programs in which companies dare you to find vulnerabilities on their software and if you find any they pay you like $10000, which is insane. But like i said concepts are daunting and one should know a lot of core CS concepts. Not just programming, you need to know Discrete maths, How pieces of software interact with one another, protocols and a lot of shit you usually don't need to know in a regular programming job, i wish i could tell you more but i'm kinda ignorant on the subject.

Okay, thanks for the reply. There is a hacking book at my local library, I think I'm gonna pick it up tbh. I already know a little bit of programming so I might as well try my hand at it especially if it pays that good.

You don't lose anything by trying, if you're that interested go do it. The worst that could happen is that you don't like it or it's too daunting for your tastes

True. It'll probably be too daunting but it could be fun
